For Teachers of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing

Providing resources and support to teachers of the deaf or hard of hearing is crucial for helping them effectively meet the needs of their students. This support can include access to specialized teaching materials, such as visual aids, sign language resources, and assistive listening devices, which enable teachers to deliver content in a way that is accessible to students. Ongoing professional development helps educators stay informed and enhance their teaching methods. Collaboration with other Teachers of the Deaf/HH and other related service providers such as speech-language pathologists and audiologists, provides a well-rounded approach to support students’ communication and learning. Additionally, providing opportunities for networking with other teachers in the field fosters a community of support where educators can share ideas, resources, and strategies to overcome challenges and improve educational outcomes for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.

The PASS Project tries to ensure that Indiana Teachers of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing have the resources, training and supports needed to effectively educate their students.  The Project does this by providing professional development opportunities, information on specialized teaching materials and where to find them, and opportunities to participate in peer networks and mentoring.
